When reading documentation, researching complex topics, or analyzing technical diagrams, you often need to ask follow-up questions.
The traditional workflow is disruptive: select text, copy it, switch to a ChatGPT or Claude tab, paste the context, type your question, and switch back. This constant tab-hopping fragments your screen space and breaks your focus.
With Your AI Translator, we designed a persistent, context-aware Sidebar Chat panel. The sidebar works side-by-side with your active tab, letting you attach specific page sections, feed images to the AI, and query models using custom response styles without ever losing your place.
Note: Some advanced workflows and features described in this article (such as the Sidebar Chat and Page Section attachment tools) require a Pro subscription or an active trial.
1. Zero-Copy Page Context Attachment
Instead of copying and pasting huge blocks of text, you can feed context directly into the sidebar:
- Open Sidebar Chat: Open the chat panel inside the extension window.
- Attach Reference: Click the Attach button or type
@in the chat input. - Select Page Section: Choose “Page Section” from the reference list, then click on the target paragraph, code block, or text area directly on your active web page.
- Ask AI: The selected section is attached as a reference token in your query input. You can then type your prompt (e.g. “Explain this error” or “Refactor this interface”) and get instant answers.
This allows you to build a conversation around multiple references on the same page, creating a highly specific, localized knowledge session.
2. Multi-Modal Context: Querying Diagrams and Images
Modern developer workflows rely heavily on charts, architecture diagrams, and mockups. When text-only AI models fail, Your AI Translator leverages multi-modal vision models (like Claude 3.5 Sonnet and GPT-4o) directly in your sidebar:
- Initiate Attachment: Click the Attach button or type
@in the chat query box. - Attach Page Section: Select “Page Section” from the reference list.
- Select Target Elements: Hover over and click the specific section of the page (such as a chart container, image container, or diagram area) you want to query.
- Analyze Screenshot Context: If the extension is granted necessary page capture permissions, it takes a clean screenshot of the selected section and attaches it straight to the chat payload. You can then ask the AI to explain the schematic, convert layouts, or inspect security diagrams.
3. Selecting the Perfect Response Style
Different tasks require different levels of AI creativity. The sidebar chat exposes our 4-tier Response Style selector so you can adjust the model’s temperature settings instantly:
- Precise: Ideal for troubleshooting bugs, auditing security vaults, or checking API routes. Enforces strict factual accuracy with zero creative assumptions.
- Balanced: Best for drafting email replies, editing copy, or writing documentation outlines.
- Creative: Perfect for brainstorm sessions, rewriting blog posts, or finding synonyms.
- Free: Captures tone, humor, and localized idiomatic expressions for creative writing.
4. Quick Access Panel
To start chatting, simply open the chat panel from the extension button or rail menu, and then use your keyboard inside the chat area. Once focus is inside the query input, you can type your prompt and press Esc to close the panel when you are finished.
Built for Local Productivity
By combining persistent sidebar panels, zero-copy context references, vision model integrations, and response style controls, Your AI Translator turns any web page into an interactive developer sandbox.
Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, map your keyboard shortcuts, and start querying your browser context at raw editing speed.
